~ .Free Stuff. - .Web Designer Tools. ~

I've looked at free stuff on other sites for web designers, and frankly, it isn't all that free. Or even worse, its junk that you wouldn't use anyway. What you need are tools that get the job done without making you go in debt. Below are tools that I use for all my web designing. Now of course, I do buy commercial tools like PhotoShop 4 & FrontPage 97, but if your a beginner web designer, the tools below will help you greatly!

~ .PictureViewer PLUS - pictureviewer.zip. 2164k * * * * ~

PictureViewer PLUS is a new graphics program for Windows 95/98/NT platforms. The program supports BMP, ICO, WMF, EMF, GIF, JPG, PNG, PCX. PictureViewer PLUS gives the user complete control over the program, what background colors, text colors to use, what toolbars to show. Includes 3 modes for a slide show! Forward, Backward and Random give this program a lead in other slide show programs. FULL SCREEN mode and many other features. All this for free, I am even listed in the program!

~ .HashInclude - hashinc.zip. - 63k - * * * * ~

HashInclude allows you to embed the same block of HTML code in multiple Web documents. This functionality is ideal for elements such as menus, copyright messages, JavaScript code, and so on, which are repeated on multiple pages. HashInclude can also insert the current date and time into HTML documents.

~ .QuickRes 2.2 - qres.zip. - 11k - * * * * * ~

Every web designer needs this little utility. It quickly changes resolutions on your monitor without having to reboot. Great for testing web sites appearances!

~ .Paint Shop Pro 5.0 - psp50ev.exe. - 7mg - * * * * ~

Just like PhotoShop 4 but almost free. Yes I know, I don't allow anything that you have to register in my free section. But this is a exception, in fact even if you don't register after 30 days, you can still use it! It has all the great features of PhotoShop 4 so you can be creating images like the pros!

~ .Gif Animator LITE - gale10.exe. - 1.8mg - * * * * ~

Its so hard to find a free gif animator for your web design projects. Luckily, Ulead has a special Gif Animator LITE edition that has most of the features found in the full version. In fact, you really don't need the full version. I use this for all my gif animations that I create.

~ .Photo Viewer 4.0 - pivwr40.exe. - 2mg - * * * * ~

Ulead Photo Viewer 4.0 offers a lot of features, while the most commonly used functions are just a mouse click away. View and convert 27+ image types, view GIF animations, display multiple images, rotate and pan, print, or open into PhotoImpact or another image editor. A great free product for your web design toolkit.

~ .Internet Loafer 7.3 - loafer73.exe. - 693k - * * * * ~

Like having "unlimited access" on your ISP? Sick of being disconnected while your reading your mail for no reason? This is the tool for you, it will fake out your ISP so it lets you stay on, and as a web designer when ever I'm on my PC, I'm on the Net also.

~ .Extensis PhotoBevel - pbvlsolo.zip. - 867k - * * * * ~

A great PhotoShop plugin that makes 3D bevel effects on anything only be selecting its layer. Best of all its free!

~ .FrontPage Express - fpxpress.zip. - 1.5mg - * * * * * ~

The only free visual html editor out there that I recommend. Very easy & fast to use. Of course its not like FrontPage 97-98 which has spell checking, browser previewing, frames, or image maps. But still you can easily make very complicated web sites using this. AWESOME!

~ .MapEdit 1.4 - mapedit.zip. - 119k - * * * * ~

Need a fix for FP Express not allowing you to make imagemaps? Here is a free tool that lets you create imagemaps on popular web image formats. Get it now!

~ .PFE - pfe0702i.zip. - 603k - * * * * ~

I use Programmer's File Editor to manage my html files, or to make cgi scripts. Very useful! Best of all it doesn't mess up text files like Word or Notepad does.

~ .WS_FTP LE 4.5 - ws_ftple.exe. - 685k - * * * * ~

Everyone uses this free ftp utility. Great for web designers who need to upload stuff to their servers. I use this for all my projects.

~ .ICQ 98 - icq98a.exe. - 1.6mg - * * * * ~

Forget all the other chat programs! ICQ is the best for personal and business use. Everyone should get this! You save a lot money on phone calls.
